Hi, I Am Anele Siswana

I am Anele Siswana a registered clinical psychologist with (HPCSA) and a lecturer of the psychology department at the University of Johannesburg. My current work explores Queer African masculinities within tradition. I offer psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, couples and families. I am conversant in isiXhosa, isiZulu and English. In terms of theoretical orientation, I am guided by the nature of the presenting problem and the scope of the intervention in respect to whether to employ a brief or long-term intervention.

I am au fait with brief and long-term modalities namely Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative-Collaborative Therapy.

I also work within the framework of African Centred Psychology which includes recognition of African practices, “ukuphilisa ukugula komoya nase ngqondweni” (healing of the mind, soul and spirit). Overall making sense of psycho-social problems within an African context.
